Shadow Minister Congratulates Local Athletes

Shadow Sports Minister Michael Weeks offered his congratulations to the Bermuda Rugby National Team following their World Cup World Cup Qualifier victory over the Bahamas, as well as congratulated and extended best wishes to track and field athletes Jessica Lewis, Shaquille Dill and Tyrone Smith; Western Stars, sailor Stephen Dickinson and our national football team following their recent performances.

Mr Weeks said, “On behalf of the Bermuda Progressive Labour Party, I would like to congratulate the Bermuda Rugby National team for their World Cup Qualifier victory over the Bahamas, as well congratulate Jessica Lewis, Shaquille Dill and Tyrone Smith for their performances over the weekend in Track and Field.

“Additionally, I extend best wishes to the Bermuda Football National team as they continue in the Caribbean Cup, hoping they bounce back to defeat French Guiana on June 19.”

“In the cricket arena, I also offer my congratulations to Western Stars for retaining the Central County Cup over the weekend, and to the Under 11 Cricketers who won the Bermuda Cricket Board’s Celebrity Cricket match.

“In sailing, I salute Stephen Dickinson and his crew for winning the Annual Flag Pole to Flag Pole Comet Race in the lead up to the Edward Cross Long Distance Race in a few weeks.

“Finally, I leave the biggest congratulations of all for the staff of the National Sports Centre for the work they do and the excellent work accomplished on Saturday June 4th to ensure all three sporting events were successfully accommodated.”
