38-Year-Old Tokia Russell Dies After Collision

[Updated: Police confirm the death of 38-year-old Tokia Anthony Russell following a collision in Paget] A motorcyclist was seriously injured in a collision at around 2.50am this morning [June 22] on Middle Road in Paget.

A police spokesperson said, “‎Around 2:50am on Wednesday, June 22nd police and first responders were dispatched to a report of a serious two vehicle collision which occurred along Middle Road near the junction with Berwyn Hill in Paget.

“Details are limited at this time. However, it appears that a motorcycle and a car traveling in opposite directions were involved in a collision.

“The motorcyclist was seriously injured. The driver of the car was reported to have sustained minor injuries.

“Police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to call the Roads Policing Unit on 295-0011.”

Update 9am: The police said, “The seriously injured motorcyclist was subsequently pronounced dead‎ at the scene by an on call doctor. No further information regarding the deceased will be given at this time, until next of kin have been notified.

“A full investigation into the circumstances of this fatal collision is underway. This marks the 6th road fatality for 2016.”

Update 11.28am: A police spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 38-year-old Tokia Anthony Russell, who died as a result of injuries received in a collision that took place around 2:50am Wednesday 22nd June, along Middle Road, Paget between Berwyn Hill and Bostock Hill West. Mr. Russell was pronounced dead at the scene by an on call physician.

“The Bermuda Police Service would like to express our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.

“The death of Tokia Russell marks the 6th road traffic fatality for 2016. Police are appealing to anyone who may have information on the movements of Mr. Russell prior to the collision or anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact Police Constable Dennis Joell of the Roads Policing Unit on 247-1788.”
