25-Year-Old Man Injured In Collision In Sandys

[Updated] A motorcycle rider “appears to be in serious condition” following a collision at the junction of Somerset Road and Cambridge Road at 6:20pm this evening [June 7], the police said.

A police spokesperson said, “First responders attended a report of a road traffic collision that took place at the junction Somerset Road and Cambridge Road at 6:20pm on Tuesday.

“It appears that a taxi was traveling west on Main Road and was turning onto Cambridge Road when the motorcycle that was traveling east collided with with the taxi.

“The motorcycle rider and the pillion passenger were both taken to the hospital however the rider of the motorcycle appears to be in serious condition.

“The area has been cordoned off whilst the relevant police officers process the scene.

“Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen the collision to contact police on 2950011.”

Update June 8, 1.25pm: A police spokesperson said, “The 25-year-old male rider involved in the collision yesterday [7-June] on Somerset Road near the junction with Cambridge Road Sandys, has been admitted into a general ward at King Edward Memorial Hospital, where he is being treated for serious leg injuries. His 22-year-old passenger was treated for injuries to his hand and subsequently released from hospital.”

    I agree–first–I hope the riders involved will make a full recovery–but I also hope that the driver and passengers in the taxi that was struck by the bike are ok–they will also be reflecting and reliving a terrible situation.
