Registration Closes Tomorrow: Iron Kids Triathlon

Clarien Bank said they would like to remind Bermuda’s young triathletes that registration closes tomorrow, Friday, June 24, for the 28th annual Clarien Iron Kids Triathlon and Carnival, to be held on Saturday, June 25 at Clearwater Beach in St. David’s.

“Registration is available online only at www.clarienironkids.com. Registration closes at 5pm, Friday, June 24. Competitors must collect their race numbers and giveaway bags at Clearwater Beach on race day between 12:00 noon and 2pm,” a spokesperson said.

“Registration for Tiny Tots, ages 3-6 is $8.00. Registration for all other participants, ages 7-15 is $15.00. All participants must be ages 3 to 15 on December 31, 2016. Children turning 7 or 11 before December 31, 2016 will be required to register in the next age group category.

“More than 200 athletes are expected to compete in the popular swim-bike-run event, which is open to children aged 7 to 15 years and also includes a Tiny Tots race to give youngsters aged 3 to 6 years their first fun triathlon experience.

“The top three boys and girls finishers in the 11-15 category will win scholarship funds for Clarien Iron Kids accounts. First place will receive $1,000, second $500 and third $250.

“Races start at 2.30pm but there’s fun for all the family from 12:00 noon when the Carnival opens, featuring water tag, water slide, zip line, fun castle, and face painting as well as food and drink stalls. Admission to the Carnival and Iron Kids Triathlon is free.

“Clarien would also like to advise the public that traffic will be restricted in the Clearwater Beach area between 2:30pm and 5pm on the roads from the beach to the roundabout near Southside Fire Station.

“During this time there will be periodic road closures to allow cyclists to pass. Motorists travelling to Gombey’s Restaurant will be diverted through Clearwater Beach car park then back onto Cooper’s Island Road. Parking for participants and spectators will be available at Clearwater Beach.

“The Clarien Iron Kids Triathlon is sponsored by Colonial Insurance, Chubb, Ernst & Young [EY] and AON. Supporting sponsors are Barritt’s, Bicycle Works, Winners Edge, Gateway, Sportseller, Island Press and Bermuda Land Development Company. Hott 107 DJ Nikita Robinson will be broadcasting live from the event from 11:00am.”
