Sunday June 19th: “Good News” Spotlight

News that C.A.R.E. Learning Centre held its graduation ceremony, a free paddling program has been established for the island’s youth, and Bermuda’s Flora Duffy claimed a silver medal at the 2016 ITU World Triathlon Leeds in England were all some of the positive news stories from the past week.

Other good news stories included 11 teachers completing the induction programme, 10 students graduating from the Skills Development Program, CNN highlighting one of Team Oracle USA’s sailors who relocated to Bermuda, the island celebrating Bermuda Heroes Weekend, and Chioma Nwasike being named the 2016 recipient of the Brown Family Scholarship, receiving $5,000 towards her studies at Howard University.

In additional good news, Comanche smashed the Newport to Bermuda record, the Bermuda Police Service won the Corporate Blood Drive for 2016, Rasheeda Burgess of the Bermuda Tourism Authority was selected for the Destination Marketing Association International ’30 under 30′ programme, the Southampton Parish Council announced that it will offer two scholarships for the academic year 2016 and Lori King swam around Bermuda in 21 hours.
