Video: AC Endeavour Benefits Local Children

June 1, 2016

Over its first year, AC Endeavour has reached nearly 1000 children in Bermuda, through its STEAM classroom curriculum, sailing days, and after school programs, and Jaidyn Robinson is one of the young Bermudians who has been gifted one of the refurbished Optimists.

The youth education and sailing program has also seen Oracle Team USA boatbuilders refurbish 15 Optimist dinghies that have been donated to ‘graduates’ of the program who want to continue sailing.

“These boats were ready to go on the trash heap,” said skipper Jimmy Spithill at a ceremony where the first five boats were gifted to AC Endeavour graduates earlier this year.

“Oracle Team USA’s boat-builders and shore crew have put in a lot of hours to get these boats to where they are better than brand new.

“And seeing the smile on their faces when they are given the boat makes it all worthwhile,” added Mr Spithill.

I now suggest that more children / young adults to “keep the sun in your face and the winds at your back”:-)
