XL Catlin U15 Super Summer Series Underway

July 6, 2016

The Bermuda Cricket Board [BCB] confirmed that round 1 of the XL Catlin Foundation U15 Super Summer Series commenced earlier this week with four teams competing for the XL Catlin Summer Series Championship Trophy.

This year there are three zonal teams, East, West and West Central and a team from Bailey’s Bay CC.

BCB Executive Director, Neil Speight stated, “The BCB is very excited to provide another avenue for our youth to play cricket over the summer months. The BCB piloted the XL Catlin U15 Super Summer series last year which proved to be extremely popular.

“Traditionally the summer holiday period has been a difficult time for regular youth cricket to be played and this is a very important age group for player development and to keep players engaged in the sport. The funding from XL Catlin Foundation has provided a platform to give young boys and girls a chance to play our great sport in a safe and secure environment.”

Neil Speight, continued, “The XL Catlin Foundation have been a valued and consistent supporter of youth cricket, in particular, the National Academy for many years and their support of this Series is a extension of this program with a large number of the U14 Academy players included in each team.

“I am also pleased to note that Bailey’s Bay, the 2016 U14 League Champions, have entered in a team into the series which is a reflection of their strong and growing youth program. I look forward to more club teams competing in this tournament in future years.

“I thank all the coaches for their commitment, and urge everybody in Bermuda to support the players on Monday evenings at either Victor Scott or Warwick Academy so that our young cricketers have more opportunities to get quality match experiences.”

Why is neil speight still involved in the cricket board. Bermudas cricket has failed miserably under this guys watch! I don’t care if we have an amazing junior program, it means nothing if they are not transitioning into the Senior national team and producing! GET RID OF HIM!!!
