Young Stars Shine At Junior Tennis Tournament
The Highland Spring Junior Tennis Tournament recently got underway at the Pomander Gate Tennis Club in Paget, with early round robin boys matches at the event seeing action in the 18U, 14U and 12U categories, with 10U matches to follow.
A spokesperson said, “18U David Leader defeat Ben Lines 6:3,6:7,10:7 in a hard fought match with Dylan Powell easily beating Michael Davis 6:0,6:0.
“In Boys 14U round robin action, Ben Jones defeated Daniel Phillips 6:3,6:4Â with Amir Thomas beating David Goonewardene 6:0,6:1.
“There were a number of Boys round robin 12U [green ball] matches with David Goonewardene defeating Alex Davis 7:0, Noel Johnston defeating Brandon Medeiros 7:1, Kallan Richardson beat Brandon Medeiros 7:3, Kallan Richardson defeated Noel Johnston 7:0, and David Goonewardene defeating Antonio Warner 7:6 in a hard fought and riveting contest.
“Matches at the Paget Tennis Club continue through the week with the Boys 10U [orange ball] matches expected to be scheduled on Wednesday.
