BAS Appoints New Chairman & Deputy Chairman

Bermuda Aviation Services Limited [BAS] has appointed David Pugh as Chairman and Gail Miller as Deputy Chairman, effective immediately. David Pugh succeeds Colonel Michael Darling, who retired from the position.

“David Pugh has been a Director of BAS since 2011. He is a Chartered Accountant with over 45 years of accounting experience. Most recently, he has been acting as Special Advisor to the Chief Executive Officer of the Argus Group, a position from which he will retire on June 30,” the company said.

“Prior to that he was Chief Financial Officer of the Argus Group, a position he held for 11 years, where he was responsible for maintaining the integrity of all financial information and accounting processes for the publicly traded BSX multi-line insurer.

“He also acted as a director of all Bermuda subsidiaries of Argus Group Holdings Limited until September 2015 and all the European subsidiaries of the same company until recently. David is also a Director of MNLC Holdings [Bermuda] Limited.

“Gail Miller, JP has enjoyed a long association with BAS having joined the human resources department in 1982, and worked for the company for 13 years.

“Ms Miller was appointed as a Director of the Board in 1996, acts as Chair of the Compensation Committee and also serves on the Audit Committee. Ms Miller is Vice President, Human Resources & Administration at The Oil Group of Companies.

Outgoing Chairman Colonel Michael Darling said, “I am delighted to hand the baton over to David and Gail, who both have provided much guidance to our diversified group of companies over many years.

“David’s experience as a Director, Chief Financial Officer, running a BSX-listed company as well as his responsibilities in running European operations will provide invaluable background to BAS.

“As one of Bermuda’s largest private employers, Gail’s background in human resources is vital. I wish them well in the next evolution of the BAS Group.”
