Court: Man Admits Stealing $17 Worth Of Food

Appearing in Magistrates Court, a 47-year-old man admitted stealing some $17 worth of food earlier this month.

Terrance Parsons admitted stealing $17.41 worth of cooked food and a cold drink from the Marketplace store on Church Street, on 3rd August.

CCTV had tracked Parsons collecting the food and cold drink, walking past the cashiers, taking the elevator down to the store’s car parking space, and then exiting and travelling on Church Street. Police arrested Parsons in the City Hall area, just as Parsons was about to begin consuming the items.

Taken back to the Marketplace, the food was weighed and priced. The total food and drink price was $17.41.

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo sentenced Parsons, who has previous convictions, to six months probation and ordered that during this six months probation, Parsons was to stay away from the Matketplace store.
