Court: Man Denies Taking Cannabis Into Prison

Appearing in Magistrates Court, a 30-year-old man denied trying to take cannabis, and other items, into the Westgate Correctional Facility.

Jahroy Simons pleaded not guilty to being in Westgate Correctional Facility — which is an Increased Penalty Zone — and possessing cannabis which was alleged, by the Crown Prosecutor, to weigh 12.37 grams.

Simons also pleaded not guilty to attempting to convey into Westgate Correctional Facility items including tobacco, a cellphone SIM card, a USB connector and batteries.

Both charges stem from an incident on 30th June 2015.

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo set Mention for 31st August and granted bail at $5,000.
