Julica Harvey Receives Wakefield Quin Award

August 5, 2016

Mr Richard Horseman, a Director of Wakefield Quin Limited [WQ], has announced that the WQ Scholarship Committee has awarded its 2016 Legal Scholarship Award to Julica Harvey.

A spokesperson said, “Ms. Harvey was selected on the basis of her strong academic achievement and ability, as well as her passionate determination to become a successful Bermuda lawyer. Ms. Harvey has received two Bachelor’s Degrees, her first in Sociology of Law, Crime and Deviance and her second in Law.

“Ms. Harvey is going on to study the Legal Practice Certificate and a Masters in Law at the University of Law in Bristol, United Kingdom.

“Julica’s road has not been an easy one. She has faced personal and family challenges along the way while paying her own way through university. What impressed the Scholarship Committee most about Julica was her single minded determination to achieve her goal of becoming a “well educated lawyer.”

“Ms Harvey impressed the lawyers at WQ so much that she turned a five week work-study into a 10 month internship.”

Mr. Horseman said, “Julica has proved her worth and aptitude in law, assisting me with interviewing witnesses, and drafting statements as well as pleadings.”

“The scholarship will cover the cost of tuition, fees, books, and room and board up to a maximum of $10,000 for the upcoming study year.”

“We are proud to continue helping graduates in their pursuit of legal studies at an institution which will qualify them for admission to the Bermuda Bar,” said Nicholas Hoskins, Managing Director of WQ.

“We congratulate Julica on this well-earned achievement and the legal profession of Bermuda can look forward to her being a strong asset to the legal fraternity in the near future.”

“Described by her University of Law Lecturers as “brisk and businesslike, bright and feisty, a person of honesty and integrity,” we are confident that Julica is a worthy recipient of the 2016 WQ Legal Scholarship Award.

“Congratulations Julica.”

Ms. Harvey said, “My internship with Wakefield Quin has been amazing and I would like to thank the firm for awarding me its 2016 scholarship. The work experience has given me invaluable practical experience and the financial support will allow me to better focus on my postgraduate studies.”

“Wakefield Quin is one of Bermuda’s leading law firms and is committed to providing timely, sophisticated and solution-driven legal advice to clients seeking expertise on corporate and commercial, restructuring and insolvency, trust and private client and litigation matters. Well done young lady. It is quite the accomplishment that you’ve managed to come this far basically on your own. Continue to strive for excellence, persevere through the many challenges that you will face, prove doubters wrong, and most importantly come back as the “well educated” lawyer you dream to become.
