Sun Life Financial Officially Opens New Office
Sun Life Financial International today [August 18] hosted a ribbon cutting to officially open its new headquarters at Washington House.
In attendance from Sun Life were: Dan Fishbein, President, Sun Life Financial U.S.; Niall O’Hare, VP and CFO, Sun Life Financial International; Ed Betteto, VP, Life Insurance Solutions, Sun Life Financial International; and Darin Minors, Senior Office Manager, Sun Life Financial International, responsible for overseeing the company’s relocation.
Sun Life Financial International established its Bermuda-based, High Net Worth business in 1996 and there are many employees who have been with the business in Bermuda since its inception.
“It has been a great experience seeing our business and our office grow in terms of opportunities and size” shared Duarte de Frias, AVP, Controller, Sun Life Financial International.
“As a long-term employee I have seen that Sun Life’s commitment to Bermuda has been constant, this investment in both space and people further demonstrates the long-term view that Sun Life believes in Bermuda and I am very much looking forward to the next chapter of the company’s history on the Island”.

Premier Michael Dunkley and Deputy Premier and Minister of Finance, Everard [Bob] Richards, cut the ribbon at the opening ceremony along with the Sun Life executives.
“Sun Life Financial International celebrates 20 years since its establishment in Bermuda, with a commitment to doing business here that dates back much longer,” the Premier said.
“I am happy to join the company and its staff in officially opening their new office space on Church Street and thank them for their dedication to our Island, to hiring and training Bermudians and now to providing their team with this modern, spacious office for doing business. Congratulations to Sun Life in their new office.
“Minister Richards said, “Congratulations to Sun Life Financial International on the opening of their new office. Sun Life Financial International does business all around the world and chose Bermuda as one of their office locations many years ago.
“Since then the company has invested in its Bermudian staff and in growing their company here and I thank them for their continued commitment to Bermuda.”
“This ribbon cutting is an opportunity for us to showcase our new, larger headquarters, and to celebrate all the hard work that our team has done over the years to grow our presence in Bermuda,” said Niall O’Hare, VP & CFO, Sun Life Financial International.
“Many of our employees have been with Sun Life since we first established our International business in Bermuda. Twenty years later, our commitment to growing our presence here is as strong as ever and I congratulate the team on all their efforts to date.
“Being centrally located in Hamilton and having a pleasant, modern and green work environment is important to all of us and we look forward to continued success in our new location. We currently have more than 50 employees in Bermuda, and expect that this new 16,000 square foot space will allow us to continue to grow our employment on the island in the future.”
