Police Thank Public After Stolen Bike Recovered

September 8, 2016

The police have thanked the public for their response to an appeal regarding two motocross bikes stolen from the Motorsports Park in St. David’s earlier this week, saying that one motocross bike has been recovered after a member of the public located it hidden in bushes in St. George’s.

The other bike — a white Cobra 65cc motocross bike with pink, purple and black graphics — remains unaccounted for at this time, and police continue to appeal for information.

A police spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Police Service would like to thank the public for their response to an appeal regarding two stolen motocross bikes taken from the Bermuda Motorsports Park in St. David’s earlier this week.

“The stolen Yamaha 250cc motocross bike has now been recovered after a member of the public located it hidden in bushes in St. George’s.

“Police officers subsequently attended the area and retrieved the motorcycle, which has been preserved for forensic examination.

“However, the appeal continues for the white Cobra 65cc motocross bike with pink, purple and black graphics – which remains unaccounted for at this time.

“Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the Cobra 65cc is encouraged to contact the main police telephone number 295-0011 with all relevant information.”

  2. Toodle-oo says:

I’m sure that the owner of the ‘found ‘ bike is very pleased that the property that he worked hard and paid good money for has been located . I hope the 2nd one is recovered shortly too .

Over the years I’ve found a good few stolen bikes in obscure out of the way places, often dumped on private property so the thieves can return later to strip them but often stolen bikes are right in front of us in public places.

I’m happy that it has been recovered and hope that the smaller one will be found
Instead of removing the bike wouldn’t it been better to leave it in the bush and wait till the culprits return to get it ?
    I’m just saying

  4. Y-Gurl says:

Once again..Thank goodness for the crime solving Public!

  5. VICTIM THREE TIMES says:

WOW I wish they would put just as much effort into when the publics everyday transportation gets stolen. When they steal our means of transportation, that we use to go work, it does not make the news like these two recreational motorcycles have made. Job well done in finding one of them.

  6. Triangle Drifter says:

Too bad this much effort is not put into recovering private bikes stolen. The attitude seems to be “Oh well. Too bad. Contact your insurance company & claim for a new one. We really don’t want to hear about it.”

You realize a member of the public found one of the two stolen bikes, the club or the owners put it on the media, you or anyone could do the same.
