Court: Man Sentenced To 15 Months In Prison

Appearing in Magistrates Court, a 41-year-old man was sentenced to 15 months in prison after admitting stealing jewelry and cash from a Southampton residence .

Vincent Burch admitted that he stole jewelry and cash from a Southampton residence on 14th September.

The Crown Prosecutor told Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo that the homeowner’s home alarm system triggered an alert on his smartphone.

The homeowner immediately phoned police and police responded quickly to the robbery that was then in progress.

Police did not catch Burch in the house, but did get him nearby on Church Road, Southampton.

Burch was still in possession of the items and admitted, to police, how he came into possession. Police recovered all the items, said to be valued at over $5,000.

The Crown Prosecutor told the Magistrate that Burch had a previous criminal record, and that he was still on probation from a prior conviction.

The Magistrate sentenced Burch to fifteen months in prison.
