Court: Sex Offender Jailed For Nine More Months

September 21, 2016

Appearing in Magistrates Court today [Sept 21], a 30-year-old convicted sex offender — who is presently incarcerated — was sentenced to nine months in prison after being convicted of stabbing another prisoner in the eye with a pen.

Merrick Seaman had admitted stabbing the man during an altercation in July 2015 that was caused by a disagreement over TV channels in the prison’s Recreation Room.

Medical follow-up indicated that there was no serious damage to the victim’s eye.

In Court this morning, Seaman told the  Senior Magistrate Juan Wolffe  that he was sorry, and said that in Westgate there are guys there are ‘a lot of big guys.’

Seaman is currently serving an eight year sentence for sexually assaulting a 5-year-old girl.

The sentence handed down today is to run consecutive to the sentence he is currently serving.
