Marinetek To Be Involved In Building Marina
According to a post on the Marinetek website, the Finland-headquartered company will be involved in building the megayacht marina at the Morgan’s Point development, with the company saying they are “honoured to be involved with such a world class facility.”
The announcement said, “When the America’s Cup fleet arrives in Bermuda in January 2017 a new destination resort and marina will be open to visitors eager to follow the action.
“Set in a cove within the Morgan’s Point peninsula, the resort’s King’s Point Marina will offer a range of mooring options and also cater for around 21 megayachts at Marinetek pontoons.
“Built on the site of a former US naval base, which was subject to an extensive government funded clean-up operation that started in April 2013, the Morgan’s Point resort and its community of luxury homes is described by designers SB Architects as a ‘contemporary interpretation of British Colonial architecture.’ The marina has been designed by waterfront specialist Edgewater Resources.
“The project, to be completed in phases, is landscaped around low to mid-rise waterfront homes and a 79-room Ritz-Carlton hotel, which will operate the marina as well as a spa and luxury restaurants.

“King’s Point Marina will provide state of the art, full-service mooring during the America’s Cup event and beyond,” said Ron Schults PE, CEO of Edgewater Resources.
“Marinetek 5300BRK breakwaters were selected for the project to mitigate southeasterly waves and provide a safe and comfortable mooring achievement within the marina. We are honoured to be involved with such a world class facility.”
“Our turn-key project includes Marinetek 5300BRK wave attenuating pontoons safeguarding an aluminium-framed interior pontoon arrangement, anchored by steel pipe piles and featuring concrete floats and ipe hardwood decking.
“Standard slips are available for vessels of 40-80ft; 950ft of side-tie dockage is offered for megayachts up to 250ft; and a Med Mooring arrangement covering an area of 1,120ft has been incorporated for vessels of varying sizes. All mooring has been designed to meet appropriate hurricane loading regulations,” said Richard Murray PE, Managing Director of Marinetek North America Inc.
