October 26, 2016

Architectural design firm OBM International [OBMI] announced that Anthony DeShields and Melissa Woods have been invited to join the firm’s local board of directors.

“With the firm celebrating its 80th year, and founding in Bermuda, the decision illustrates the company’s continued commitment to developing the next generation of Bermudian design leaders. Anthony and Melissa’s appointment ensures Bermuda is well represented as future OBMI leaders, corporate-wide,” the company said.

“Anthony DeShields joined OBMI in 2005 as an Architectural Technologist. He has been involved in various projects in scope and scale, residential to commercial, and from design to completion.

“In 2005 Anthony became Bermuda’s first accredited LEED technologist and has since been in charge of the OBMI Green Team, responsible for providing LEED development for projects, such as recently completed KEMH Acute Care Wing.

“His commitment to global offices excellence includes helping to coordinate the OBMI standardisation of technical tools including CADD and REVIT. These efforts have resulted in an even higher quality work product from all global offices.

“With this appointment, Anthony will continue to design exceptional architectural products, however, will now provide leadership in implementing companywide investments in design technology.

“Melissa Woods joined OBMI in 2009 as an Interior Designer. Her natural ability and passion for her field were immediately recognised in her projects.

S”ince joining OBMI Melissa has continued to grow in experience and flourish professionally with her residential or commercial clients.

“Melissa has also been instrumental in further developing the firm’s ‘Small Works’ program, as well as helping develop a new division, ‘Solutions for Seniors’. Both of these programs are geared to assist clients with small renovations in a budget friendly manner while staying focused on schedule and turn-key results.

“It was unanimous among the existing board that Anthony and Melissa are a perfect fit to promote the company’s 80 years of rich Bermudian history all the while looking for new and innovative solutions for tomorrows design challenges.

“These recent appointments add to OBMI’s continued commitment to developing design leadership training across the global company.”

Regional Director, Colin Campbell, said: “Anthony and Melissa bring enormous value to our clients and are recognised for award-winning projects.

“We’re impressed with their progress, forward-looking sensibilities, results, core integrity, sense of team, and passion for driving OBMI forward into greater and more creative solutions for modern living.

“Anthony and Melissa are the type of Bermudian’s who understand these intrinsic values and we’re grateful for their future contribution.”
