71-Year-Old Man Injured In Assault In Sandys
A 71-year-old Sandys parish man “sustained lacerations to his face and head after being assaulted by an unknown man with a crash helmet” at around 11.25am today [Nov 13] in Sandys parish, the police have confirmed.
The victim was taken to hospital via ambulance and the suspect — who the police describe as “dark skinned wearing a blue and red football jersey” — fled the scene on a dark coloured motorcycle.
Police on scene today:
A police spokesperson said, “Around 11:25am on Sunday, November 13th police and first responders were dispatched to a reported assault in the Long Bay Lane / Daniel’s Head Sandys parish area.
“Details are limited at this time.
“However, it appears that a 71-year-old Sandys parish man sustained lacerations to his face and head after being assaulted by an unknown man with a crash helmet.
“The suspect, described as dark skinned wearing a blue and red football jersey, then fled the scene on a dark coloured motorcycle.
“The Sandys parish man remained conscious and was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment.
“An update on his condition will be given in due course. The scene is being processed and inquiries continue.
“Any witnesses or persons with relevant information should contact the Criminal Investigation Department on 247-1744.”

Police need to spend some time down at 9 beaches. I’ve seen a lot of suspicious activity down there. I wouldn’t take my family to the beach down there, it doesn’t feel safe.

What 600 police? The Police in the last two years gone from 485 to 400. By this time next year they will be under 400 thanks to budget cuts and trying to get rid of West Indian Officers. Why you think the stations closed. They don’t have enough Police Officers.
Anyone who assaults a 71 yr old should be ashamed of themselves. They are nothing but cowards. The law needs to deal with people like them Lock them up and throw away the key. We do not need people around like that in our community.

Im not one bit in favour of violence in any way but with the condition that the Bermudian and Global system are in, this is a reflection of the times and you cannot suppress it!
