Tre Houston, a former CedarBridge Academy student, well-known national athlete and Olympian, recently addressed S1 students at an assembly urging students to focus on their dreams.

Houston insisted that it was important to return to his alma mater to speak to young students about staying focused in school. He delivered his message to a captive audience detailing his journey to becoming a world class athlete. He, however, reminded students that they need to focus on their goals and remain committed to pursuing their dreams.

Houston shared many of his school experiences with students to illustrate the necessity of staying motivated. He noted that while in high school when he became popular he felt as though he ‘had arrived,’ and as a result did not do as well as he could have.

He further shared his collegiate experiences while competing as a student-athlete reiterating to students the fact that student came first.

He intimated that while in college he was quickly reminded of what his high school teachers constantly told him about commitment and application. Houston insisted to students that it was necessary for him to make himself, his family and his country proud, and so he had to refocus his efforts in college and commit to achieving his dream of becoming a professional athlete.

Houston added that his athletic prowess has enabled him to run all over the world, compete against the world’s best and live out his dream. He urged students to zone in on what they wanted to do, create realistic goals and solicit assistance from those around them to secure a better future.

Students were very receptive to Houston, who encouraged students to ask questions after his presentation. S1 Student, Kanzi Emeri said that she was very inspired by Houston’s talk, and that as a student-athlete she will stay on task and be successful.
