New PLP Senator To Be Sworn In Next Week

November 15, 2016

The new PLP Senator will be sworn in next week, the PLP said today, with the new Senator set to replace Marc Daniels who resigned earlier this month.

A statement from the Party said, “Due to the sitting of the Senate tomorrow, November 16th 2016, Opposition Leader David Burt had expected to appoint a new Senator at that time. However, due to preexisting commitments by the chosen appointee, the PLP Senator will not be sworn in until next week.

A spokesperson said, “The Progressive Labour Party looks forward to completing our Senate team and announcing the choice of PLP Senate Leader once this appointment has been made official.

“We have confidence that our existing Senators, Renee Ming and Kim Wilkerson, will represent the party and the country effectively in tomorrow’s session.”

The new PLP Senator will be the latest in a series of changes for the Party, which have included the retirement of former Opposition Leader Marc Bean, the election of David Burt as the new PLP Leader and Walter Roban as the new Deputy Leader, a new Shadow Cabinet and six changes to their Executive Officers.

    • Unbelievable says:

Yeah but how will his job at Belco feel about that?

    • somuchless says:

      No. Pick Tweed.

    • hmmm says:

Maybe they will pick Trump like you’re friends did. CNN commentator Van Jones put it best it was a white-lash against a black president.

      • Onion Juice says:

And picking Steve Bannon as his top aid advisor, Klan ………..

      • Wahoo says:

So Van Jones from CNN said that? Well that has to true then.

      • wahoo says:

Why are you talking about Trump? You keep using his name when talking about local affairs and I gotta tell you it is completely without merit. You would be hard pressed to find anyone on this island white or black that would be supportive of him and his tactics.

      • Truth is killin' me... says:

Black voters didn’t vote for Hillary like they did for Obama…TRUTH!!!

      • Zevon says:

CNN is disappointed that its inside candidate didn’t get elected despite all the unethical dishonest acts by its employees.

So is this a black lash against Trump now?
Or is it different when I use the type of language Van Jones used?

    • Smith says:

People like you is the very reason I don’t vote OBA. The Island is so racial divided on both sides of the political spectrum and your Premier wants to dance and shake hands like it doesn’t exist. One thing I would say is the USA election results revealed the truth.

      • Hmmm says:

The PLP are responsible for ensuring people’s are seen as different. Want to maintain a divide in Bermuda, then vote PLP.

        OBA are for every Bermudian

      • jt says:

And is the truth that 60 million Trump voters support everything he says and does? 30 million? 5? 1?

      • wahoo says:

You talkin’ to me? My premier is your premier too and I think he comes from the most diverse party that we have to choose from wouldn’t you agree?

  2. Hope says:
