Fire Service Responds To Fire At Hospital
The Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service responded to the King Edward Memorial Hospital this morning, with the BFRS saying that on their arrival they “were met by KEMH staff informing us that there was a fire in the Diagnostic Imaging staff room, but they had extinguished it using a fire extinguisher.”
Fire Service personnel entered the building to ensure the fire was completely extinguished, before carrying out ventilation due to the quantity of smoke.
Fire Service spokesperson Staff Officer Delton White said, “At approximately 8:49am on Tuesday, December 13, 2016, the Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service responded to a report of an Automated Fire Alarm activated at the King Edward Memorial Hospital.
“The Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service responded to the incident with 1 fire truck staffed with 4 personnel. On our arrival we were met by KEMH staff informing us that there was a fire in the Diagnostic Imaging staff room, but they had extinguished it using a fire extinguisher.
“Fire Service personnel then entered the building to ensure the fire was completely extinguished before carrying out ventilation due to the quantity of smoke. Due to the quick response of the KEMH staff the fire was contained to the staff room which received extensive smoke damage but minor fire damage.
“There were no injuries as a result of the fire and it is currently under investigation by the Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service fire investigation team.”

Greate news, glad no one was injured.
Mmmmmmmmm
It was probably that antique MRI machine that sounds like it’s breaking down while you’re inside it.
The report said that the fire was in the staff room. Sounds like someone toasted their bread a little too much this morning.
I wonder what de comments would be like if this happened at Doc’s clinic.
Mmmmmmmmmm
Didn’t realize a 2 year old MRI machine would be considered antique. I suggest you educate yourself and google ‘why is a MRI so loud’.
It’ll be interesting to know what the cause of the fire was. I’ll leave my other thoughts to myself until after a cause is determined. It’s an open secret that BHB doesn’t have the best in terms of management. Oh dear, I’ve said too much!
For that comment you will pay…better watch your back-lol.
