January 6, 2017

The 29th Annual P.A.L.S. Walk will be held on Sunday, February 19, 2017 to support patient cancer care in Bermuda.

This is their major annual fundraiser, with contributed funds donated to medical care, equipment and supplies for cancer patients in Bermuda.

Last year’s event attracted a record 641 participants and raised $46,191. This year we are aiming for 700 participants and hope to raise $50,000.

The event, which is generously sponsored by Clarien Bank, Colonial Insurance and Butterfield & Vallis, will again feature three distance options – 3K, 5K or 10K – to suit walkers of all ages and abilities.

The walk will start and finish at P.A.L.S. Headquarters at 18 Point Finger Road, Paget, with all routes following the scenic Railway Trail.

Participants must register before the event – there will be no registration on the day of the Walk. Adult registration fee is $25.00, children 5-15 years $15.00. There is no fee for children under 5 years old.

Registrations can be made:

  • In person at P.A.L.S. Headquarters every day from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. until Friday, February 17.

All participants who raise more than $100 in pledges and return their forms by February 28, 2017 will be entered into a prize draw for a $750 travel voucher on March 3.

The person who raises the most money will win a $1,000 travel voucher. There will also be draw prizes following the Walk but winners must be present to claim their prize.

Karen Dyer, P.A.L.S. Executive Director, commented: “The P.A.L.S. Walk is our major annual fundraiser and we are delighted that our lead sponsor Clarien Bank has agreed to continue its valuable support of the event, along with Colonial Insurance.

“This year are also pleased to welcome Butterfield & Vallis as a sponsor. The new routes we introduced last year proved extremely popular and attracted over 500 more walkers than 2015. We encourage the whole community to “Join the Journey” and “Walk with Us for Cancer Care in Bermuda!”

Michael DeCouto, Chief Marketing Officer of Clarien Bank, said: “Clarien is proud to again play a leading role in supporting P.A.L.S. and the important and valuable service it provides to housebound cancer patients.

“We look forward to helping this year’s event be the most successful yet. Many of our employees will be actively involved either as participants or volunteers and we urge the community to come out and Walk with Us”.
