Free Mood Disorder Support Group Meeting

January 30, 2017

The first meeting of a newly formed support group for people with mood disorders will take place at Somersfield Academy tomorrow evening [Jan 31] from 6.00pm to 7.30pm with guest speaker Dr. Grant Farquhar.

A spokesperson said, “After realizing a significant gap in available support for people with mood disorders, Cathy Sousa, a counselor at Benedict Associates, joined up with a client who was recently diagnosed with a mood disorder to create a place where people can go to meet others, share their experiences, and learn more about living a balanced life while managing a psychiatric disorder.”

“We invite anyone looking for information, support, and camaraderie to attend the initial meeting at Somersfield Academy on Tuesday, January 31st from 6 -7;30pm.

“Guest speaker will be Dr. Grant Farquhar, consultant psychiatrist at the Mid-Atlantic Wellness Institute, who will be giving a 30 minute lecture entitled “What’s a Mood Disorder?”, which will be followed by questions and discussion.”

“The initial meeting is open to both individuals with a mood disorder and their family members and attendance is free. Following the first meeting, a separate group for family members will be formed.”
