The Bermuda Association for Motorsports, the recognised governing body for motorsports on the island, is inviting the public to the first annual Motorsports Expo on Sunday, January 29 from 12.00pm to 5.00pm at the RUBiS Southside Raceway in St. David’s.

The event is the first of its kind and will showcase the four major motorsports on the island, including motorcycle racing, motocross, karting, and power boats.

Antoine Richards, President of the Bermuda Association for Motorsports, said, “In 2017 you can expect to see BAM taking a more prominent role in the Bermudian sports community.”

Three of the four racing clubs that will host the event are located at Southside, St. David’s. Two are based at the RUBiS Southside Raceway which encompasses the street racing track that is shared by the Bermuda Motorcycle Racing Club [BMRC] and the Bermuda Karting Club [BKC], while the third club, Bermuda Motocross Club [BMC], utilises the adjacent dirt track.

As part of an initiative to build exposure and numbers within the clubs, the expo will include sports and vehicle displays from each club as well as opportunities for spectators to hop in the driver’s seat and see if they have what it takes to join a high-energy sport.

All clubs will be positioned to provide information on how to join the respective clubs and what is involved in pursuing a racing career.

Scott ‘Skitchy’ Barnes, President of the BKC, said ,”It is important to let the public know what motorsports options are available on the island; it is a good opportunity for motorsports clubs that have been struggling to join forces and rebuild their clubs.”

The event is family friendly and free to enter. It will host a series of rental sessions for children and adults to try out both fun karts and mini motorcycles throughout the day.

All four sporting clubs offer various avenues for youth to enjoy the sport and information on how to register will be distributed at the event.
