The month of February is Heart Awareness Month and the City of Hamilton is partnering with the Bermuda Heart Foundation to bring awareness to heart health and the importance of a healthy lifestyle.
During the month of February, the City of Hamilton will be hosting the ‘My City Heart’ Instagram contest. Anyone can visit The City Hall and take a picture with a large heart cut-out which will be placed on the lawn and post the photo on Instagram. The person with the most Instagram likes will win a special prize!
“One of the Bermuda Heart Foundation’s main goals is to educate the community on how preventable heart disease is! This February is Heart Disease Awareness month, and we are encouraging everyone on island to be proactive about their heart health!” says Sionna J. Barton, Marketing & Development Manager
“A sedentary lifestyle may increase the risk of heart attack almost as much as smoking! We need Bermudians to adapt easy-to-embrace ways to significantly lower their risk of heart disease and improve their heart health”.
“Get Active; you don’t have to join a gym or run in a 5K. Start small by incorporating physical activity into your daily routine more and more: Take the stairs instead of the elevator, park at the farthest end of the parking lot or use your lunch break to take a quick walk”.
“The City of Hamilton is tremendously excited to partner with the Bermuda Heart Foundation to help to bring awareness to the leading cause of death for both men and women in Bermuda. We sincerely hope that everyone will participate and have some fun while educating themselves and making a difference”, says Hamilton Mayor Charles Gosling.
“The City of Hamilton endeavours to do its part in bringing awareness to this issue which will produce both instant and long-term results, contributing toward a healthier Bermuda.”
