Women’s Rugby Action At Sports Centre Tonight

February 17, 2017

The final matches of the Women’s League take place tonight [Feb 17] at the National Sports Centre before the Bermuda National XV host New York Athletic Club [NYAC].

“Renegades and Teachers face-off at 6:15, with the winner waiting to see if Mariners can upset Police at 6:50 to determine which Club will be crowned League Champions,” a spokesperson said.

“Police’s fate is in their own hands, and a win against Mariners will see them secure their first title in recent years.

“Bermuda National Team Coach, former Scotland international, Brian Archibald, has named six uncapped players in tonight’s squad to face NYAC at 7:30.

“Rory Dublin and Ben Green have been knocking on the door for the past few years.

“They are joined by Saltus student Tyler Kendall, speedster Chiquon Smith, South African playmaker Stephan Smit and the back-row duo of Dick Reno and Adam Rossides.

“There is no shortage of experience in the side, with seasoned veterans Rich Cumbers and John Quigley in midfield, and Dustin Archibald, Conor McGlynn, Mikey Williams and Darren Richardson bolstering the pack alongside Teachers RFC Captain Aldo Campbell and National 7s Captain Tashon DeSilva, who will be looking to provide plenty of opportunities for outside backs Dan Cole, Corey Boyce and Jahniko Francis in the wider channels.

“NYAC are one of the strongest Clubs in U.S. Rugby, with a proud history and a talented group of players with numerous representative honors, led by All-American Ross Deacon, Sean Beuche and Nick Wolley.
