Zeiko Lewis Scores For New York Red Bulls II

March 16, 2017

Bermuda’s Zeiko Lewis scored for New York Red Bulls II as they defeated St. John’s Red Storm 3-0 in a friendly match.

The club’s match report said, “Red Bulls II welcomed the St. John’s Red Storm Men’s Soccer Team to the Red Bull Training Facility for their third of four preseason friendlies currently scheduled.

“Coach Wolyniec fielded a similar lineup to last week’s preseason match against Harrisburg, with similar weather conditions.

“The first half held minimal chances with a lack of fluidity desired from the coaching staff, as the first corner of the match didn’t come until the 31st minute and the first shot on goal for either side came in the 45th minute when trialist Bradley Nestor had a breakaway opportunity against the St. John’s keeper but his shot went straight to the keepers chest.

“Both teams went to the half scoreless.

“Coming out of halftime, Red Bulls II came out more lively and had a better grasp on the tactics and opened up the scoring right out the gate with a 47th minute goal by Red Bulls SuperDraft selection, Zeiko Lewis.

“Red Bulls II kept the pressure on the St. John’s backline and caused multiple turnovers in their half of the pitch which led to a second goal forced by another trialist Lucas Terci, who then found Vincent Bezecourt with a beautiful back-heel pass for a clear sitter which he buried into the back of the net.

“St. John’s would really only test the keeper once in the 81st minute forcing a diving one-handed save from Evan Louro which went out for a Red Storm corner.

“Even through a number of substitutions as the match winded down, Red Bulls 2 kept their shape and composure on the ball allowing substitute Arun Basuljevic to find space as he nearly found goal in the 86th minute hitting the crossbar with a shot. His hard work would be rewarded just before the final whistle as he found the back of the net assisted by Lewis to make it 3-0.“
