This week’s ‘Minute with Mikaela’ highlights the America’s Cup Grinding Challenge, saying that it will “give you the opportunity to get up close and personal with what it takes to be an America’s Cup sailor by testing your fitness levels on a grinding machine.”
During the Minute, Mikaela Pearman said, “Test out your fitness levels by participating in the America’s Cup Grinding Challenge. The first stop is at the St. George’s Marine Expo on April 23.
“The Grinding Challenge will be in team spirit and give you the opportunity to get up close and personal with what it takes to be an America’s Cup sailor by testing your fitness levels on a grinding machine. Those who enter the competition will be competing for a chance to be in the finals on June 3 in the America’s Cup Village.
“The format is simple. You grind for 10 to 20 seconds, and the high-tech machine captures and logs the data generated by each user. You can only try out the grinder one time in each event, but you can enter the competition at as many events as you like.
“Here are the categories: Male and Female Student, 14-18; Male and Female Open, 18-39; Male and Female Masters, 40-49; Male and Female Senior Master, 50-59.
“The next stop is the XL Catlin End to End on May 6, and the final stop is Harbour Nights on May 10. Make sure you stop by one of these events for your chance to compete and win fantastic prizes.”
