Golf Stroke Play Championships Set For July

June 17, 2017

Entries are open for the Bermuda Stroke Play Championships and will be played at Port Royal Golf Course from Friday, July 7th to Sunday, July 9th.

A spokesperson said, “Preparations are underway and entries are open for the Bermuda Stroke Play Championships which will be played at Port Royal Golf Course from Friday, 7th – Sunday, 9th July, 2017. The event is usually held in June, but due to several conflicts, the event is being held later in the year.

“Due to the America’s Cup occupying much of the month of June we wanted to enable our membership to enjoy this prestigious event without conflict. Also we have eight of our top golfers competing in the 2017 NatWest Island Games in Gotland, Sweden.

“The men’s team of Walker Campbell, Jarryd Dillas, Mark Phillips and Will Haddrell together with the ladies team of Elizabeth Parsons, Katrin Burnie, Linda Down and Tariqah Walikraam will be leaving for the Island Games on 22nd June and returning to Bermuda on 1st July.

“The Senior Stroke Play Championships will also be included in the Stroke Play Championships to form the three divisions, Men, Senior Men and Ladies. This is a very popular event and we look forward to a good number of entries.

“The defending champions in the Men’s and Ladies Divisions are Will Haddrell and Elizabeth Parsons, both of whom will be back having participated in the Island Games.

“Players may enter the tournament by visiting the Bermuda Golf Association website at www.bermudagolf.org and clicking on the Bermuda Stroke Play Championship link for information, conditions of competition and entry forms.

“If players have any questions they may contact the Bermuda Golf Association office at tel: 295-9972.”
