Traffic Advisory: Expect Delays In The East End

June 19, 2017

The Police are reminding the public to exercise patience and expect delays in the east end today [June 19] due to the Bermuda Heroes Weekend [BHW] festivities in the Clearwater Beach, St. George’s area.

A police spokesperson said, “The motoring public is reminded to exercise patience and expect delays in the east end today due to the Bermuda Heroes Weekend [BHW] festivities in the Clearwater Beach, St. George’s area – as traffic congestion is already being reported in Hamilton parish for motorists traveling further east.

“As previously stated, from 2pm until 10pm today there will be limited access via Number 2 Gate where the Parade of Bands begins and travels the entire length of Southside Road, turning right onto Cooper’s Island Road and then onto Clearwater Beach.

“It is anticipated that the parade will have approximately 2,500 participants with a large number of spectators lining the parade route. Access to Cooper’s Island Road is via payment due to the BHW event.

“Motorists, particularly those living and/or traveling in the east end this afternoon, should anticipate delays due to the high volumes of traffic expected.

“Traffic diversions will be in place as a result of road closures and large numbers of people are anticipated to be in attendance.”
