Micah Pond Bermuda July 2017

1. How does it feel to have been selected for such an elite squad?

I feel very excited and privileged being selected for this team.

2. How will you prepare for the competition?

To prepare for the tournament I’ve been doing extra training sessions with our goal keeper coach: Dashun Cooper and recently with the U15 boys as well, as they prepare for their tournament.

3. When did you start playing football and what prompted you to start?

I started playing football at an early age I think it was 4 or 5 years old and what prompted me to start was always being around the sport either with my mama at the Dandy Town games or with my daddy at the Blazer’s games.

4. Do you feel that girls’ and women’s’ football gets enough support from the local community?

I definitely do not think that women’s football gets enough support from the local community, but hopefully with this tournament we will have a lot more support being that we are at home.

5. Which Bermudian athlete, coach or sporting figure do you admire most and why?

The player I admire the most would have to be Marco Warren. I admire Marco because he can make something out of nothing when he plays. Despite his size he dominates the midfield with his quick feet and vision on the ball and never gives up!

6. How does it feel to get the opportunity to play in your own country and in front of a home crowd?

I am very excited, because we are home and we will get the support from family, friends and others. I’m just very excited.
