Fidelis Appoints Charles Mathias To Board

August 14, 2017

Fidelis Insurance announced the appointment of Charles Mathias, Group Chief Risk Officer, to the Board of Fidelis Insurance Holdings Limited [FIHL], subject to regulatory approvals.

He succeeds Neil McConachie who resigned as Group Chief Financial Officer and Director earlier this year, and who retains a consulting relationship with Fidelis until the end of 2017.

Mathias brings nearly three decades of broking and underwriting experience to the FIHL Board. He joined Fidelis in 2016, coming from Lancashire where he was Chief Risk Officer with responsibility for the group’s enterprise risk management.

He started at Lancashire at its launch in 2005, and his roles for the group also included Chief Underwriting Officer of the Bermuda entity and Group Underwriting Operations Director. Prior to 2005 he held a number of roles with brokers and MGAs in London, the USA and Mexico.

Richard Brindle, chairman of FIHL, said: “Charles’ impact, as Group Chief Risk Officer at Fidelis, cannot be overstated. Our success is built on careful and expert assessment of risk, and Charles has demonstrated his broad knowledge and leadership in this regard. I am very pleased to welcome him to our Board.”
