Man In ICU Following Collision In Southampton

A man is listed in stable condition in the ICU following a collision in Southampton on Saturday [Aug 26] when “he apparently was hit by a taxi” according to police.

A police spokesperson said, “Police responded to a report of a road traffic collision that took place at 9:30pm on Saturday evening but was reported on Sunday at 1:30pm.

“Details are still unfolding but it appears that a 33 year old man was on the roadside near his residence on Horseshoe Road in Southampton when he apparently was hit by a taxi. The taxi driver stopped and spoke to the victim who initially stated that he was fine resulting in the driver leaving the scene.

“At approximately 11pm on Saturday, the victim started to experience severe pain and subsequently attended KEMH where he was later admitted into the ICU with serious abdominal injuries. As of this morning [Monday] the 33 year old man is listed in stable condition in the ICU.

“Police are appealing for the taxi driver in this incident to please come forward as well as anyone who may have seen this incident or anyone who may have any information that may assist in this investigation to contact police on 295-0011.”
