Police Investigating Near Drowning In Harbour

Police are investigating a near drowning in Hamilton Harbour after a man appeared to hit his head and fall into the water yesterday evening [August 2], with the man now listed in critical condition in the ICU.

A police spokesperson said, “Police have launched an investigation into a near drowning that took place at 9:21pm on Wednesday evening.

“Details are still emerging, but witness reports suggest that a man was positioned next to the Harbour, specifically in the area of Front Street and Burnaby Street when it appears that he hit his head and fell into the Hamilton Harbour.

“The man was subsequently assisted out of the water and taken to KEMH where he is listed in critical condition at the ICU.

“Police are appealing for witnesses, or specifically anyone who many have seen the man fall the Harbour to please contact the 295-0011.”
