August 25, 2017

Three university students have come together to organize and host a “West End Neighborhood Cook Out” on Saturday [Aug 26] at 2.00pm at the Sandys Secondary Middle School field.

A spokesperson said, “We are three students [Layona Millett, Shirina Simmons and Cadre Smith] of the Sandys Community who desire to come together and give back to the community.

“We are in the course of going off to university this fall. Before we leave the island to continue our academic pursuits, we have come together to devise a plan on how we can give back to our community.

“With the help of many members of the Sandys Community, we will be holding a West End Neighborhood Cook Out, on August 26, at 2pm, on the Sandys Secondary Middle School field. We will be bringing everyone in our neighborhood together for fellowship, food and fun.

“As residents of the Sandys community, it is our desire to see our neighborhood come together for a good cause, reflect on the history of our area, and also provide the opportunity for neighbors to connect.

“We will also be giving away back to school items to ensure that all of the students in our community are well-prepared for the new school year.

“Everything at the event will be free of charge. Over the course of the day we will be hosting numerous games, fun activities, and will be giving away free food for adults and children.”
