Football: Bermuda Vs Barbados Set For Friendly

September 1, 2017

The Bermuda Football Association has signed a reciprocal agreement which will see the Barbados Senior Men’s Team visit the island for an International Friendly this October.

The agreement will see Bermuda travel to Barbados in 2018. The Bermuda home match will be held at 8.00pm on October 28 at the National Sports Center.

A BFA spokesperson said, “The Barbados senior men’s team last visited Bermuda in June of 2008, almost ten years ago. On that occasion, Bermuda were comfortable 3 -0 winners with Keishen Bean getting a brace and John-Barry Nusum, the current U15 Coach, adding the third.

“However, the rivalry is even as both countries have won twice and there has been one draw. This match will allow the Bermuda Team to continue its preparation for international competition and represents the last of the 2017 series of matches which included a creditable 4-2 loss to Canada; a 1-1 draw with the New York Cosmos and a 2-1 win versus Grenada.”

BFA President Mark Wade said, “The signing of the match agreement and the scheduling of this match culminates months of talks with the Barbados FA. We are pleased to be able to play hosts to Barbados and anticipate a great match.

“Bermuda and Barbados enjoy a special connection off the football field as there is a vibrant local Bajan community and Bermudians travel to Barbados to enjoy cricket and the annual Crop Over Festival.

“This connection will add a little spice to the match and help to create an exciting atmosphere at the National Sport Center.”

Technical Development Director Maurice Lowe said, “We are delighted by the opportunity to renew our rivalry and friendship with the Barbados Football Association.

“This continuous diet of international football bodes well for our preparation and showcases our hard work for the Bermuda public to enjoy.”
