BMRC’s First Annual Halloween Ride & Fun Day

October 18, 2017

The Bermuda Motorcycle Racing Club [BMRC] will be hosting their first annual Halloween Ride & Fun Day on Saturday, October 28 from 11.00am to 5.00pm.

A spokesperson said, “The event is a Halloween-themed Open Track Day where the raceway is open to the general public for all interested children and adults to enjoy an exciting day of riding fun and entertainment. All types of bikes are welcome to participate, from motorcycles to tricycles and everything in between.

“The track is usually exclusive to members of the BMRC and Bermuda Karting Club, however, this event will allow day passes for the general public to enjoy this often restricted area. The main track will be open until 3pmwhereas the smaller inflatable track will remain open until 5pm.

“The BMRC hopes to encourage new members and gain interest from more families through the unique riding experience. Adults and experienced youth riders are granted access to ride the entire race track while young children and teens with little to no riding experience are able to test out a smaller inflatable track with or without coaching assistance.

“Fun prizes are up for grabs for ‘best costume’ for adults and children.

“We are inviting the general public to the RUBiS Southside Raceway, located directly behind Clearwater Beach’s parking lot in St. David’s. Entry into the event is free. Track access starts at $5 for adults and $2 for children who use their own motorcycles or bicycles.

“Day passes can be purchased for $15 for adults or $10 for children with groups sharing the track using a ’15 minutes on, 15 minutes off’ system. Mini bikes will be available for rent for children and youth under 16 years old.

“Adults and teens over 16 are encouraged to bring out their own motorcycles or other motorized or non-motorized vehicles to utilize on the track.

“Food vendors, music, an inflatable race track, a tattoo booth and more are just a few things to look forward to at the event. The BMRC’s Spark program will run a bake stall throughout the day with all proceeds raised going towards supporting their Youth Riding Clinic.

“The Riding 201 students are raising funds for an overseas training and racing endeavor in April 2018 at the M1GP racetrack in California. This will be the group’s first international experience and will benefit the club’s top students aged 8 to 16 years old.

“Costumes are encouraged with consideration of accommodating mandatory safety gear [children require helmets, knee pads, elbow pads, gloves and boots or sneakers; adults require suitable helmets]. Safety gear will be available for loan free of charge.

“A limited number of leather suits will also be available for various youth and adult sizes for interested riders. Full face helmets are mandatory for all children and racing adults [available via BMRC] and regular street helmets are acceptable for recreational riding at the event.

“For more information, please contact the BMRC at info.bmrc@gmail.com or on any of the Club’s social media outlets.”
