Joint Pipe Bands Performance This Evening

October 4, 2017

This evening [Oct 4] there will be a joint performance by the Halton Regional Police Pipes and Drums from Canada and the Bermuda Islands Pipe Band and Highland Dancers at City Hall.

A police spokesperson said, “This evening [Wednesday, 4th October 2017] on the front courtyard of City Hall starting at 6:30pm, there will be a joint performance by the Halton Regional Police Pipes and Drums [Ontario, Canada], and the Bermuda Islands Pipe Band and Highland Dancers [BIPB].

“The performance is expected to last about an hour. HRPP&D are in Bermuda as guests of the Bermuda Police Service to support Police Week 2017 activities.

“Their invitation was based upon a relationship between HRPP&D and a member of the BIPB who is also a member of the Bermuda Police Service, and has been a year and a half in the making.

“Halton Regional Police Pipes & Drums are celebrating their 30th anniversary this year.

“They appear by kind permission of the Chief of the Halton Regional Police Service, Mr. Stephen J. Tanner. They are under the direction of Pipe Major Mike Cuffe and Drum Major John Guy.

“BIPB is under the direction of Pipe Major Aidan Stones and Drum Major Jeremy Durrell, and Dance Director Marisa Stones. Both bands are grateful to the Corporation of Hamilton for the use of their venue.

“Please come and enjoy the display of piping, drumming and Highland dancing. In the event of inclement weather, the performance will be cancelled.”
