November 29, 2017

The Ministry of Public Works is encouraging the public to attend two events taking place at the Botanical Gardens this Saturday [Dec 2],  the official opening of the Farmer’s Market and the unveiling of the Festival of Lights.

“The Department of Parks is partnering with local community organisations to host the two events which are free to the public,” a spokesperson said.

“The official opening of the Farmer’s Market starts at 10.00 a.m. on Saturday and will take place in the Jack King Building.

“And later that day, starting at 3.00 p.m., the Festival of Lights activities get underway. The event which is also being sponsored by BELCO will support the Friends of Hospice.

“We are encouraging everyone visit the Botanical Gardens this Saturday. They can start at the Farmer’s Market and stay through for the Festival of Lights.

“As it relates to the Festival of Lights, we see this as a great example of the Bermuda Government partnering with one of our charitable organisations to provide a fun filled community event which will assist a broader charitable cause.”

“The Festival of Lights event officially kicks off on December 2, and the light display will continue each Friday and Saturday evening for the entire month of December.”
