Wells On Bench as Burnley Defeat Stoke 1-0

December 12, 2017

For the second straight game, Bermudian striker Nahki Wells — who has been recuperating from an ankle injury so has not yet made his Premier Division debut — was on the bench for Burnley as the Premier Division team earned another win, defeating Stoke City 1 – 0 this evening.

“Ashley Barnes struck a dramatic late winner to send Burnley into the top four of the Premier League as Sean Dyche’s men refused to have their charge up the table blown off course,” the Club’s match report said.

“On a wild and wintry night at Turf Moor, Barnes came off the bench to lash home the 89th-minute goal which for one night at least put the Clarets in a Champions League slot.

“The striker’s second goal of the season was enough to earn a fourth victory in five home games as Burnley once again found a way to win.”

Burnley’s win today earned them their highest league position since March 1975:
