Photos: Icing Sugar Christmas Decorations
The Sylvia Richardson Care Facility is showcasing a Christmas display in its lobby, a creation made entirely of icing sugar by Chef Jerry Callender.
Administrator Angela Brangman told Bernews, “Every year, Mr. Callender makes this out of icing sugar and he forms it; the trees, the reindeer, everything is made out of real icing sugar. Every year he adds the lights and stuff to it adding his little special touch to everything.
.
“Mr. Callender has been putting out the display at Christmas time for several years now. It took many hours to create, done mainly on his time off and after hours. Each year, he does touch ups to ensure the display is in good shape and ready to be put out again.
“He wanted a winter town theme that the residents, visitors and staff could enjoy.
“Mr. Callender was a Pastry Chef at Sonesta Beach for many years starting in 1986. He is now employed as a cook at Sylvia Richardson Care Facility since May 2007.”
As Christmas approaches, Chef Callender adds an assortment of candies to the display to be enjoyed by all.
