Football: North Village Rams & Paget Lions Win

North Village Rams and Paget Lions claimed victories in the Friendship & Shield Semi-Final football action.

Friendship Semi-Final

Devonshire Cougars 2 North Village Rams 3

This game started off with both teams trying to feel each other out, but it was Allan Douglas Jr who would put the Devonshire Cougars in front when he scored from close range in the 15th minute, one minutes later it was 1 – 1 when Shayne Hollis controlled the ball well and found the back of the net.

With the second half starting and the teams still locked at 1 – 1, Moses Steede would put the defending champions Devonshire Cougars back in front in the 54th minute, but Keishen Bean would equalize for the North Village Rams in the 61st minute. Bean would then score what would prove to be the winner in the 78th minute to earn the North Village Rams a spot in the final at the Wellington Oval on New Years Day.

Shield Semi-Final

Paget Lions 4 Wolves 2 – Extra Time

For the second day in a row the Shield Semi-Final went extra time with nine man Paget Lions defeating Wolves 4 – 2.

Marco Piper gave the Paget Lions the lead in the 2nd minute, but Steven Bremar would level the score at 1 – 1 when he found the back of the net for Wolves in the 22nd minute.

In the 33rd minute the Paget Lions would go back in front when Tahjae Welch scored, but in the 55th minute, with the lead Paget then had Julian Carpenter sent off for his second bookable offense, and then Steven Almeida scored for Wolves to level the score at 2 – 2.

Wolves would have another player sent off for a second bookable offense leaving them with nine men and the game would end 2 – 2 and needed the extra 30 minutes.

The teams were still deadlocked at 2 – 2 after the first 15 minutes, but DeMarlo Curtis would strike for Paget in the 106th minute and when Robert Richardson scored in the 119th minute the Paget Lions booked their ticket to the Final.
