Berkeley Fun Run/Walk Set For February 10

The Berkeley Educational Society, founders of the Berkeley Institute, will be having a Fun Run/Walk on Saturday, February 10 in celebration of the school’s 120th anniversary.

The walk will begin at 8.30am at the corner of Court and Angle Street, with participants gathering at the original location of the school, which was at the junction of Court and Elliott Street.

It will finish at The Berkeley Institute school field. Registration for the event is $15 for students and $35 for adults. Interested participants can register online by visiting trackie.com and searching for ‘Devonshire.’

A spokesperson said, “Everyone who registers will receive a commemorative t-shirt and a bag while supplies last. The race director is Donna Raynor [Class of 1975], assisted by Deborah Jones Hunter [Class of 1975]. This is not a chip event.

“The Berkeley Institute’s history over the past 120 years, and counting, is testament to the Founding Fathers’ integrity, courage, faith and perseverance. The mission to provide an environment and academic programming offering high quality education to Bermuda, irrespective of race, gender or other divisive factors still remains.From the outset, The Berkeley Institute has been a beacon for the minds of tomorrow.
