Caution Advised: Oil Spill On North Shore, Flatts

[Updated] The police are advising the motoring public to “be cautious” as “there has been an oil spill identified on North Shore Road in Flatts all the way to St. George’s. ”

At 7,35am this morning [Jan 4], police spokesperson said, “Please be advised there has been an oil spill identified on North Shore Road in Flatts all the way to St. George’s. It appears that the oil is in the Eastern and Western lanes. The motoring public is advised to be very cautious especially cyclist.

“The relevant governmental agencies have been advised and the matter will be addressed.”

Update 12.33pm: A police spokesperson said, “The relevant Government agencies and police officers on mobile patrol in the eastern parishes have assessed the road surface between North Shore Road, Flatts and St. George’s after a reported oil spill earlier this morning.

“At last check road conditions had improved since the original report and there have been no further reports of oil slicks in that area.”
