The budget going to screw Bermuda again

    • Onion Juice says:

No its gonna screw those who benefitted from de AC ( after allowing hundreds of Millions of dollars to slip by in AC duty free) and those who profitted of de lower income workers, thats what pisses me off about de undeserved privileged, your generational wealth has sustained you but you b!+€# about workers who have’nt had a raise in 7 years (but PLP give us an increase 7 months while being in Government) while prices kept goin up.
The same mentality that caused de Black Wall Street destruction and murders.
Too bad Bernews wont let me print what I really want to say

  2. Flyover says:

So the PLP applaud that the debt is just $2.42 BILLION???? Unbelievable. Borrowing up by another $90million. This is just unsustainable. The good ship Bermuda has started sinking again.

    • inna says:

      It’s all a show!

    • Athena says:

      Very appropriate comments. Totally agree.

      • Ringmaster says:

Had the OBA presented this Budget there would be protests already. Anti Bermudian, pro foreigner, selling Bermuda to foreigners, more expats, no jobs for Bermudians. You name it. However it is sold as a budget for the people to make it acceptable and believable.

      • Ringmaster says:

Had the OBA presented this Budget there would be protests already. Anti Bermudian, pro foreigner, selling Bermuda to foreigners, more expats, no jobs for Bermudians. You name it. However it is packaged and sold as a budget for the people to make it easy to swallow.

        • Onion Juice says:

They just prioritised it so the lower income can get a piece of de pie, you already benefitted from ya AC money scheme.

          • nerema says:

Yeah, that extra $40 a month has you bought and paid for. That’s what you cost.

            • Onion Juice says:

Better then getting nothing and F!@#ed at the same time, and if we would’ve gotten MUCH more you would be still B!+€#ing.
Thank you PLP for listening to the PEOPLE.

            • Ringmaster says:

OJ. This budget is good for Bermuda, not good for Bermudians. Opening up the 60/40 may well result in new companies opening up but they will kill local business and provide minimum wage, except we don’t have it, jobs. No benefits no 60 days vacation or sick leave. Good that costs will reduce for the rich, not good for the locals who will have less. You really need to get out and understand.

              • Onion Juice says:

Well if workers dont get organized to recieve those benefits thats their problem.

                • Wahoo says:

Sounds kind of like what people tried tell you about AC. You don’t understand how our economy works do you.

  3. Jared says:

    Yeah ok…

  4. Joe Bloggs says:

    *starts treading water*

  5. Kevin says:

I could have sworn that the PLP ran on the platform of a balanced budget in year 1 …. Lovely and the old submarine Bermuda is going to a new depth , as skipper Burt takes her down deeper
    Good luck Boys and girls

    • nerema says:

But we can build taller buildings now. That’s gonna help grass roots Bermudians.

    • What?? says:

They did not. They clearly stated balanced in their second budget.

  6. nerema says:

Why is there a 24% increase in estimated Land Tax revenue?

    • Denis Pitcher says:

I believe a temporary 5% increase in land taxes on commercial properties was mentioned.

  7. watching says:

    Well done Premier Burt!

  8. sick and tired says:

So you give us a couple of bucks with the payroll tax, and then take it back with the increase in cell phones. And anything else that will increase. (insurance).

  9. Adrianne says:

Spend spend spend now we Bermudian will be paying even MORE on taxes while you the PLP will SPEND SPEND all living the good life as we watch you all get FAT from living off the TAXPAYERS DOLLARS and we will still see your OWN PEOPLE HUNGRY HOMELESS AND JOBLESS GO PLP GREAT JOB

  10. Kim Smith says:

I’m pretty sure they were not applauding that but that it was $50 million less than the OBA projection.

    • nerema says:

If there was applause, it was at the fact the 2017-18 year was even better than expected. He did seem to be trying to take credit for the success of his predecessors, all while making snide comments about the AC whenever he got the chance.
2018-2019 will be his chance to show us whether he can do any better.

    • Anbu says:

Ah projection. As in not concrete. So they didnt really do anything then. Got it.

  11. Can't believe it says:

This is a good budget in spite of what you OBA hacks are saying.

    • Anbu says:

Stupid is as stupid does. Hack on that

      • Jah says:

You OBA bloggers are all full of crap! The rest of us will get behind the plan as it promotes the future for our children instead of building an airport or pavilion in Dockyard that no one needs and we will never see the profits from at the non elitist level. It is high time that the elitist person agenda of entitlement and control is broken and replaced with education and investment opportunities for all Bermudians whatever shade of skin they are but not those born of an elitist family of the 40 Thieves. I know it hurts but just think of how the rest of us have suffered at the hands of protectionist policies and balancing budgets that include elitist events that don’t return the profit projected. Anyone can make the numbers speak lies like PWC did by not including the expenses, loss of taxes to the people, etc. shame on them and the OBA masters!

      • Onion Juice says:

They purposely neglected our public schools, seniors and public tranportation (so they could privatize it) but good thing de people came to their senses. 24-12
On de up side we spent a $#!+ load of money on a sailboat race for Billionaires.

    • nerema says:

Love the way he reduced the tax payable by taxi drivers by 50%, because they haven’t been bothered to pay their taxes in the past.
      Great freakin logic.
      If you’re an idiot.

    • mixitup says:

I’ve long stopped entertaining the OBAers… This Premier is getting onto the serious business at hand… This is a well balanced budget with clear foresight.. They will hate on everything this Gov’t does irregardless, so save your energy by ignoring them and let our Premier do his work.

  12. Dready says:

People will pay more because of their votes

  13. Ringmaster says:

Had the OBA presented this Budget there would be protests already. Anti Bermudian, pro foreigner, selling Bermuda to foreigners, more expats, no jobs for Bermudians. You name it. However it is packaged and sold as a budget for the people to make it easy to swallow.

  14. Stevie says:

You suck bunion juice. Brainless, senseless. Just like the sheep who follow the PLP, BIU & rev twit.

  15. Stevie says:

    Grow up bunion juice.

  16. Me says:

Does anyone know if pears and zucchini and cucumbers will be duty free?

  17. Helo says:

It will be very interesting to see if the supermarkets drop the price on fruit and vegetables since there’s no more duty.
