Driver Not Injured After Crashing Into Bus Shelter

An 84-year-old car driver was not injured after a collision on North Shore Road in Hamilton parish, however both the car and the bus stop shelter were damaged.

A police spokesperson said, “Around 1:25pm Saturday, March 17th police and first responders attended a reported single vehicle car crash on North Shore Road in Hamilton parish, near the junction with Doctors Lane.

“It appears that a car being driven in the eastbound lane of North Shore Road struck a bus stop shelter in the vicinity of Shelly Bay.

“The driver, an 84-year-old Hamilton parish woman, was apparently uninjured.

“However, she was transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance as a precaution, where she was medically assessed and later discharged.

“Both the car and the bus stop shelter were damaged.

“Works & Engineering personnel also attended the scene, installing temporary supports to the bus stop shelter.

“As a result, members of the public are advised not to use the damaged bus stop shelter until it is fully repaired.

“Any witnesses that have not already come forward are asked to contact the main police telephone number 295-0011.”
