Court: Disqualified Driver Fined $1600

April 17, 2018

A disqualified driver has been fined $1,600 after being caught speeding.

Daniel Joell admitted riding at 64 kph on April 10 close to the junction of Somerset Road and Wilson Place in Sandys when he appeared at Magistrates’ Court this morning.

The 34-year-old also admitted an earlier speeding charge dating back to December last year on North Shore Road.

The court heard that Joell of Smiths had previously been banned from driving for an excess alcohol offence until August 2019.

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo imposed two $300 fines for the speeding charges and a further $1,000 for driving while disqualified. The original driving ban will remain in force.
