Court: Driver Fined & Banned For 18 Months
A dangerous driver who overtook a police car has been banned from the roads for 18 months.
Pierre Niklaus sped past the police vehicle on Harrington Sound Road at about 11.30am on February 13.
The 30-year-old then drove right up behind a second motorist and after several aborted attempts overtook him too.
He then slammed on his breaks forcing the other two cars to stop before reaching out of his window and sticking his middle finger up at the second driver.
At Magistrates’ Court, he admitted dangerous driving and making a threatening gesture.
He apologized for his actions describing them as a “lapse in judgment”.
Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo imposed a $1,300 fine on Niklaus and disqualified him from driving for 18 months.
