Court: Man Admits Driving While Impaired

April 10, 2018

Appearing in Magistrates Court this morning [Apr 10], an impaired driver has been banned from the road for 18 months.

Marquel Deshields was stopped by police as he travelled west on South Road in Paget at about 10.15pm on March 17.

Officers told him to pull over after noticing him swerving from side to side and nearly colliding with a wall.

Magistrates’ Court heard that Deshields smelt of intoxicants and his eyes were glazed when he was stopped.

He told police that he had drunk “a couple” before he was arrested and taken to Hamilton Police Station.

Today at court he admitted driving while impaired. The 39-year-old of Paget was fined $1,200 and disqualified from driving for 18 months.
